Hollywood unions all formed in the 40s and 50s when union density in the US was like three or four times what it is now. Of course, people eventually were like, Hey, we need to unionize. I think there's so much misinformation about about what unions are and what they do that it has really done its job of making a lot of people very skeptical about the power of a union. People in the creative arts tend to be to more left leaning and more liberal than people in a non creative arts.
