The Panic of Love Canal Residents

Love Canal residents locked two EPA officials in the offices belonging to the Love Canal Homeowners Association and held them hostage with demands of immediate evacuation. Residents proclaimed that if it were safe for them to live in Love Canal, it was safe for the EPA employees to live there as well. While 150 Love Canal citizens protested on the building's lawn, Lois Gibbs was inside on the telephone negotiating with the White House.
