The Importance of Self-Determination

For black people, for black organizers, especially, there was a moment of pivoting. I think that's how you end up with what's happening in Minnesota where it's like we're not asking police to get better. We don't trust that that's in your playbook. What we are going to say instead is we want to defund the police. And then this piece you're talking about around now that we're pivoting and now that there's so many futures possible in one moment, it's like how do we turn together? How do we be in the next phase of the journey together? It feels like enlivening to me.
