The History of the Kappa
The Kappa are reptilian-like creatures roughly in the form of a human child. They're also reported to emit a horrible stench, and they supposedly have an indentation on the top of their heads that holds water. A mummified Kappa arm went on display in a museum in Miyazaki last year. Today, it's believed that the Kappa is a tool of folklore designed by farmers long ago to keep their children safe near dangerous rivers.
