In the 1920s, there was a larger increase in purchases of durable goods. Now, was the change in consumer demand and autonomous one or was it orchestrated byConsumer credit companies and advertisers? So that was the question I addressed in my thesis. And the argument that I made in the conclusion I came to was that the shift in consumer demand for durable goods was driven by the availability of credit.
