Translanguaging Language Teaching
Translanguaging is the use of home languages to delve deeper into concepts and content. Erwin Crisfield suggests that one way to do this is to vary the language of input, processing and output in the learning cycle. Garcia also talks about this and says that where EAL learners might ordinarily be treated as deficient when English is the language of instruction. Suddenly translanguaging enables teachers to make this content rigorous by allowing them to have that mental processing in their home language.
