The Reduction of Being
Heidegger says we reduce down to being as the ground of beings. Being is precisely that which by definition can't present itself to, to experience. But it necessarily eclipses itself in being the condition for disappearing. We need to construct a notion of being sort of project out beyond the content of our experience. And that's an essential part of really engaging in the phenomenological project.
