The Role of Participation in Democracy
Do you think that participation in democracy needs to be conscious? There were a lot of exercises earlier in the 20th century with what was then called participation. But through and through that literature, it's abundantly clear that people who are thinking about participation aren't interested in actually giving workers control over their workplace. So when we start moving towards citizen assemblies, we're getting back in touch with the more radical of participatory traditions.
