The Idea of the Brain
For so long there hadn't really been much theoretical progress in neuroscience. People got into their minds at, well, it's just not possible. And of course that computer metaphor is just such a incomplete metaphor. But the top line is that brain is not a computer. The brain is a modeling system and it runs a model of the world. That's what makes us intelligent. It's not how we process the information. It's how we build a model ofthe world.
