The Day of Infamy
The Japanese assault on Pearl Harbor was one of the most unexpected military maneuvers in the history of modern warfare. Despite increasing tensions with Japan, the US was unprepared for an aerial assault on Hawaii. In 1887, Hawaii's King David Kalakawa gave the US exclusive permission to use Pearl Harbor to refuel and repair ships.
