Nadine returned to her rooms that night, but she couldn't sleep. Instead, found herself pacing and staring out the windows into the night,. nadine thought of her mamma and her thinking ra. She went to her jewel box and opened it. The bone ring was nestled into the velvet folds, almost seeming to glow in the warm light of the gas lamp on nadine's vanity. She reached out and slipped the ring onto her hand, and the world changed. A veil of seemed to lift from her mind. And as soon as she did, that flow of knowing things stop.
