In the southwest and into mexico atlattls had some special features they actually switched up the grip instead of holding yet laddl like a hammer. They would create these finger holes to put their fingers through and kind of hold it with this upturned hand turns out that reduces the elbow strain that causes atlattl out. Also developed compound darts that had detachable foreshafts so hunter is only needed to carry one or two main shafts and then carry a small pouch of five or six foreshaft's uh-huh that is genius.
