Second Apocalypse

I don't think that this is an allegorical series. The writers that wrote it, I think, wanted to write a space story. It's the most horrific thing I've read in a long, long while. There are like archangels and thrones and principalities and the taxonomy of heaven. Also, you do magic once in your life in the fantasy setting, eternal damnation which is really horrific.
