Athletes must sleep enough to manifest the benefits of all those gains you're making. You can sleep when you're dead, but there's somebody in the gym working harder than you. When I was doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and studying for medical school my brain was integrating all sorts of things if I hadn't slept enough. If you are looking to leverage your sleeping in a learning type context, intuitively, we probably already understand the truth.
