The American Indian Boarding Schools of Yours
The troubled teen industry has many of the same hallmarks as American Indian boarding schools. At these boarding schools, indigenous children were forcibly removed from their families and put into institutions that were almost always run by guess who a wonderful loving mother, the Catholic church. For hundreds of years, the U.S. government used these boarding schools to stamp out any vestiges of native identity while paradoxically keeping them on the reservations away from white American society.
