The Placebo Effect of Microdosing
I don't, as it happens, think drugs should be legalised. But that's more to do my views on independence and kind of the sovereignty of the self than it is about me suddenly suggesting I think we should be stunned all the time. A lot of microdosing is probably just triggering the placebo effect so people believe they're getting something. And that might be quite good. Thomas Mann found a beautiful way of saving the drama of Tristan and his soldier. They made them believe that now we drank a love potion, now we're in love, but they were already in love. That was a beautiful way of saving the drama from otherwise being really problematic.
