The Story of Ashoka
Ashoka was among a hundred sons of binthusara, and he was ugly. Early in his life, he was appointed to rule as viceroy in the city of ochain. He left ujan on his father's command and went to the city of taashila in gantara. A buddhist monk happened to wander into the dungeon where ashoka kept him tortured until he realized what a messed up person he'd become. Ashoka then turned to buddhism after realizing that it could redeem even the most horrible people. It might also suggest that morindulity was highly contested and unpopular in gandaras at the time.
