Anger and the Moral Life
Anger can go wrong when it results from perceiving a slight or an injustice when there's not one. For example, if a person is driving the speed limit on a road ahead of you and there's no passing lane, they've done nothing to slight you. The passion of anger can tempt us to go beyond what justice requires and seek punishment that exceeds the crime. Vigilante Justice is when a person seeks to punish a wrongdoer by making himself an authority outside the rules of law.
