Neurology helps us see something we might not otherwise have known about ourselves. What I began to see was that the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere attending differently to the world created two different versions of the world with different qualities. So it wasn't that one of them had a function, one of them looked at language or something and was good at reason,. The other was emotional and so on. It was that each got involved with everything, with language, with reason, with the visual world, but with a different mode of attention.
