In cultures like the one that we use now, zero turns into a very useful innovation. It gives birth to many new possible ways of expressing numbers. In ancient mayan, babylonian, indian and chinese civilizations some would just leave space between digits to indicate zero. But did they consider those placeholder symbols numbers?
