HUH7 Viruses

The HUH7 cells have low levels of the trypsin receptor in general. When we add protease, the receptor is present, but the proteases are there in low levels and that allows us to pull up the viral entry. Baby hamster kidney cells are pretty useful in our hands because they don't have receptors that are compatible with the human coronaviruses. They might express low levels of their own receptors, but those are very generally incompatible with SARS-1 and MERS and SARS-2, etc.
