Is It Easier for the Baltic States to Join NATO?

For the EU and for nato it's not as if they had a road map or a blueprint. It just kind of happened haphazardly in a sense so part of the answer to your question is that it was a very anarchic process of how various countries entered in to the EU and NATO. Why it was easier for the Baltic republics I think size as I mentioned earlier plays a big role in this Lithuania is a little bit less than 3 million Latvia Estonia each roughly a million and a half. Turkey is a NATO member it's a very large country it's a pain in the neck for Washington often but it is a NATO members it's never been a member of the EU
