Beliefs in Fixed Ability and Growth Mindset Theory

The two mindsets can orient students towards different interpretations of effort for this reason we have suggested that each mindset fosters its own meaning system more specifically mindset theory expect that the belief in fixed ability should be associated with a meaning system of performance goals. The effects of mindset on achievement goals and on responses to situations were statistically significantly stronger when people were facing a setback about 50% stronger on a setback what the authors called ego threats.
