The Origins of Pythagoras

Pythagoras is thought to have taught a doctrine of animal and human reincarnation. He's also able to recognize the souls of others who are reincarnated, as in the story of the puppy. The mathematical stuff comes later, according to this reading, in a kind of offshoot of the Pythagorean movement he founded.
