Ray Crock was the founder, chairman, and owner of 52% of the stock of McDonald's. The company went public for the first time in 1965 with an IPO that more than doubled from its initial $22.50 to $49 within weeks. Because no other fast food company had ever gone public, major financial institutions mostly passed on the deal or took a very minor position.
