The advent of behavioral modernity is an event that occurred sometime between 30 and 70,000 years ago. And then, let's just call it 50,000 years. You had people before that point, who from there are from their physical remains were identical to us. But at least according to this theory, they did not act like modern human beings. The reason they're burying them is because they have a concept of the afterlife.
