Lucy and Steve were thrown into a new family when they got married in 1997. She wanted to go to university but the safety net of her family had been pulled out from under her so staying in her hometown even though her appearance was split was a safer choice. They found a campus about three hours away from their families, rented a flat and jumped into a three-year degree.
