The Importance of Just Laws
Aquinas and Dr. King would say, this is always an implicit condition in having a valid law. It has to be compatible, minimally compatible with justice. In the case of racial segregation, King's argument was, I don't think you can really justify this. And no one can really put forward a defensible case of this. This is what Dr King was arguing for. He suffered a lot of pro-brium imprisonment. We rightly hold him out as an exemplar, an example for our nation. But we could just simply go back and say to see the connection between law and justice.
