Eutopia may be a work of vivid imagination, but its writing fits snugly into this story of concrete political activity. The fictional setting is a conversation in Antveve between Moore and the invented Hiflo dei. Even before meeting Erasmus while the great Dutch scholar was visiting England, Moore had been steeped in humanist study at Oxford University. In fact, his history would help to inspire the villainous, hunchbacked anti-hero of Shakespeare's play, Richard III.
