Welcome back to At the Table. Today’s guest is Isaac French, a builder and designer who turned five overgrown acres outside Waco into one of the most thoughtful microresorts in the country.
Isaac started as a bookkeeper. He had no architecture degree, no big team behind him BUT had a clear vision, a deep love for design & artistry, and the ability to dream.. That vision became Live Oak Lake, a Scandinavian-inspired retreat of seven cabins nestled around the water. Within 18 months, it was running at 94% occupancy, had a viral (and loyal) audience online, and 2 years later sold for $7 million.
In this episode, we talk about how he brought the project to life, the role of beauty and simplicity in hospitality, and the importance of carving your own path. Isaac also shares where he finds inspiration, hacks for building a space & the most important project he’s ever built (:
I have a lot of respect for Isaac. He’s a phenomenal storyteller & full of energy to inspire the masses.
Big love.
