Ghost Marriages in China
In China, intentional murders can receive a punishment of anywhere between 10 years to the death penalty. Mei's parents also said they should just leave her buried with the husband because if they were going to dig her up, there was a huge chance her body would be kidnapped. Her corpse would be taken again, robbed and sold in another ghost marriage. So again, these three matchmakers, they were arrested and severely punished in China. The Chinese government does not condone this. This happens in other parts of the world as well.
