Is There Anything Stopping Hedge Funds From Getting In?
The institutional capital game works when one person does it, especially if the whole industry is doing it. Hedge funds can just decide they want to do it tomorrow, and boom, they're in. Traditional money managers like the the pension funds have these very strict mandates that are so tight that they have to get approvals from their chief investment officer. This is at best a few weeks or a month or two down the road that some of those guys finally get in.
