The Local Land Use Politics of the Ontario Liberals

The Canada Golf and Country Club in this riding is a large piece of land as golf clubs tend to be slated to be redeveloped with about 1500 new homes. That has been extremely unpopular in the area with residents saying that they are losing green space. The provincial government could in theory step in to prevent this redevelopment from happening, but they have not so far. This government did step in to halt a similar golf course redevelopment in Oakville in the Western GTA. And there's also the undercurrent sometimes a very explicit charge that this government pays more attention to Toronto and the GTA than it does to Ottawa.
