When I think about labels like narcissists, toxic, gas lighting, which are very commonly used phrases now, those labels are useful only when they guide us to insights that allow us to take greater control over our own experience. Those labels can also become a trap if we use them as a basis for feeling self-righteous. It's not that these labels are untrue and that they don't have a place, but the labels are only a means to an end.
