Is Facebook and Google Using Your Online Activities to Sell Ads?

The Irish Republic, the privacy guards there have fined Facebook one of the four hundred million dollars and forbid them from using your online activities sell ads. Some interpret it as a complete reversal; they're basically telling everybody you can't track people and then use that to sell advertising. Google has a gigantic back end that is the plumbing for much of the advertising FICO system that is tracking based.
