The True World Is Not Just the After Life
In christianity, the most virtuous thing is to be a sinner who repents. So where has the true world gone in this formulation? The answer is that the true world has been projected now on to a world beyond. And since no man can achieve perfection, only god can,. We can only become good by repenting and by being shepherded into this true world by the evolence of this perfection. It's not just the promise of a good, pleasant existence in the after life; it's also the assertion that there is a dominant universe which governs our universe.
