The Relationship Between Psychotechnologies and Social Institutions
If psychotechnologies are the bricks, maybe social institutions are the buildings we're constructing. The fifteenth century collapse of the mediaeval church was right? We had the printing press, which accelerated the dissemination of racy and numerouc in the world. And the outcome of that was that the church all of a sudden became a much less relevant institution. If ive procedurized a distributed cognition, it will suffer the same threat or vulnerability as individual cognition does. This has to do with the nature f problem solving, which means when we've precedalized something, we're pretending as if we have something that's augarithmic but it's really not.
