The Impact of Private Equity on Nursing Homes
In the last decade, private equity has increased its investments in nursing homes and other elder care facilities. A study by business school professors found that private equity ownership of nursing homes increased mortality at these homes by ten percent. On top of that, they found that these homes increased their medicare billing. So they're charging taxpayers more money while killing more people.
