Spelling is a huge you know something that's really that occupies much of my heart territory if you like. To teach english spelling as if we have this transparent orthography is a huge mistake and it's where teachers get bogged out. There are other layers there are etymological morphological and unusual spelling type layers that teachers need to learn and need to be able to teach.
