In 1975 and 1976, snow melt caused the water table to rise. All the leaking chemicals came to the surface in Niagara Falls' Love Canal neighborhood. It took years for anyone to start to try and address the problem with a homeowners association. The chemical company is still like 3000 jobs in Niagara Falls.
