The Effects of Microgravity on Bone Density

UCLA's Joe Bedry studied the simultaneous changes to both the microbio and bone density in mice that became astronauts aboard the International Space Station. The natural remodeling our bones go through gets disrupted when our bodies are exposed to microgravity, so you lose about one or two percent of your bone density for every month up there. He hopes his research might also help the millions around the world who suffer with osteoporosis.
