The Conservative Party Is Withdrawing to a Core Vote
In a sense it's the Labour party that are acting as the traditional Conservative party right now. They may win a powerful majority of uniting across the classes and actually doing something in the Conservative party can't do very well, which is to also win in Scotland and Wales. The Conservative party are withdrawing to a core vote. There isn't really any alternative for the Conservative party but to pursue the strategy that Boris Johnson was trying to pursue or perhaps it was only a set of tactics.
