The History of Bed Bugs

In 1895, a lawsuit in Chicago concluded with the jury ruling that no one should pay rent in a house that was infested with bed bugs. Many landlords began to require, and some still do, a prospective tenant to disclose any history of bed bugs. By the 1940s, the world had come a long way from the bacon grease ointment days of the 17 or 1800s. DDT ultimately led to the most effective economical and apparently safer to humans anyway, solution that the world had ever seen in the fight against bed bugs.
