After his second season on an engine outside of Bozeman, Patrick was accepted onto a hot shot crew in Montana. That's a higher tier of firefighters recruited to respond to big, tenacious forest fires,. Those enormous fires are often human caused and can take weeks or even months to contain. When the season ended, Pat already knew he'd be back the next summer.
