The Politics of Loyalty

I'm one of those rare folks who was raised Catholic and have remained Catholic. I tend to run more into converts in the intellectual world than cradle Catholics. The Catholic way is to be, is to want to be more in the world. So not unlike converts, I discovered aspects of the faith in an intellectual way that was almost altogether unknown to me as someone growing up in the late 60s and early 70s. It's a beautiful picture of a human-scale community where it was possible to be known and to know people.
