Tech Companies Are Drawing Protest as They Try to Shape a New US Trade Deal With Countries in the Indo-Pacific
Berkshire Hathaway Energy has agreed to buy Dominion Energy's stake in a Maryland LNG export project for $3.3 billion. Tech companies, including Alphabet and IBM, will take part in a fourth round of trade talks in Busan, South Korea this week. They're giving input on the drafting of the Indo-Pacific economic framework. Activists are worried the companies will use the agreement as a backdoor to heading off domestic regulation and the enforcement of antitrust laws.
