CHAPTER

Is This Really a PR Stunt?

I didn't understand why you would expect that an organization if they came up with this very complicated and potentially like powerful algorithm would be expected by default to release it. I think some people were arguing that what they were releasing was not that powerful humans have been able to write artificial text on behalf of other people or other organizations for a long time. This does is make it easier to do it at scale um so that was sort of one line of argument  and then the other line of argument being like yes there are reasons for not releasing things but also we need to respect sort of reproducibility in science.
