Is There a Relationship Between Human Suffering and Land Sufference?

In a subsistence agrarian economy, there is just an inherent sense of relatedness between humans and the land. So I think there's just a sense of intimacy and connection there so that it seems perfectly natural to think that human actions affect the land. And in a sense, this strict differentiation between human and nature as these separate and often opposed entities is probably not the attitude you're seeing there.
