Artificial Intelligence and Values Are Orthogonal
I was arguing that a lot of these things that people are concerned about end up being somewhat moot or sidestepped under this biomimetic regime. People like Nick Bostrom argue that intelligence and values are completely orthogonal, so you can have any degree of intelligence paired with any value structure. And I actually think that's funny. The arm is like an arm attached to the stomach. They need not to be chased. Yeah. Well, it'll do things like it'll set whatever is not specified, it'll probably set to zero. And then whatever is specified in the utility function, it might realize in perverse ways. yeah. So because of this and because values are complicated
