Is There a Responsibility to Forgive?

I feel like there's a lot of like responsibility bound up into those statements. Jesus puts a really heavy weight of authority and responsibility all through his ministry on us to forgive. And we kind of just edit all of that out of our modern Christianity anyway, because it's theologically complex.
